Ah! July at Sunshine Bible Academy!

We have finished the July project at Sunshine and it was a hot month.  In all the time we have been here (this is the sixth summer) it has not been this hot, several days in a row over 100 degrees and lots of wind.  This entry will be pretty short as the month was very repetitive.  Billie spent her month spot painting and cleaning bathrooms and I---
---remember the brick wall that started last year and is finally all up.  Now is has to be polished-
---and etched with muratic acid.  Now it is all done.
The next project is to repair and paint the chapel.  With a borrowed lift we were able to get to the top, 40 feet in the air.  Once there we discovered that all of the wood around the top was rotted and in need of serious replacement.
I don't believe that the paint up here has been refreshed for a while and it comes off in chunks.
In the middle of it all we were asked to be in the Miller 4th parade representing the school.  It was a nice morning walk around town with some good friends and we got to throw lots of candy (and eat a few pieces).
We also decided we needed a little landscaping in the RV park so with the addition of a few rocks and some flowers and water we beautified the area.
As we did the landscaping we were carefully watched by a mother Robin who had a couple of babies in the nest.  That's all for now.

Long time gone, many miles traveled!

Since we left Appletree learning center at the end of March, we have traveled over 6000 miles, graduated two daughters, cleaned up storm damage and worked at Sunshine Bible Academy for a month. Whew!!
On the way from T or C to Aurora we spent one night in Pueblo and God rewarded us with a beautiful Sunset.
When we arrived at the Cherry Creek campground we were greeted by a hungry mule deer who had a taste for our geranium.
This was a "part" of his family!
When we awoke the next morning everything was covered with nearly a foot of snow and it was beautiful.
But, not every one was excited about the snow.
Unfortunately, there were a  lot of trees which were already leafed out and they did not fare well.  There were tree trimmers out for a week cleaning up all of the broken limbs.

Meanwhile, our grandson Jacob was busy fixing himself something to eat! Again!
Our granddaughter who is now taller than Billie---
---and nearly as tall as me---
---has started working at Chic-Fillet---
---so she can feed her artistic habit.
She really has an eye and a talent.

Of course the reason that we came to Aurora was to congratulate our daughter on her Opthalmic Medical Technician degree, seeing the grandkids was just icing on the cake.
By the way, we got rid of our 5 year old flip phones just before we left T or C so we are now in a very long learning curve.
While we were in the area I was also able to get in a round of golf with Matthew, our son.
He was also able to visit us at the park and brought along his side kick who thought my face needed to be cleaned.
Leah, the one with the collar is a great watch dog---
---but has a weakness for peanut butter.
Finally we arrived a Sunshine and were greeted by one of these beautiful feathered friends.
Then it was off again, this time to the farm in Kansas.  We left the motor home in South Dakota, loaded up some tools and went back to the farm to clean up some storm damage and repair a couple of things.
The cardinals had already come back and there were plenty of them headed for the feeders.
This little guy has a bit of a distorted view of things but he gets the job done.
We said good by to the farm, drove back to Sunshine, changed pickups and went to help a friend in Watertown.
We were able to get her washer and dryer back into service, fixed some sheetrock and handrails on the stairs.
Then we went outside, fixed the lawn mower, mowed the lawn, fixed some stairs in the barn and applied paint---
---repaired and painted the chicken house---
---and took breaks on the deck.
We were also able to attend our old church in Watertown that Sunday and pose for a picture with Snow Boy.
Billie was able to spend some quality with her friend---
---and laugh a little too.

With that we drove back to Sunshine Bible Academy, changed our clothes, repacked and flew to Maine for our other daughter's graduation.
While we were there Rhonda's husband Kirk serenaded us with his vibes---
---and Rhonda and Billie (and sometimes myself) put together a puzzle or two to pass the time until graduation.
We also did a little sight seeing while we were there.  This house was used as a set for Murder She Wrote--
---and the town is a quaint seaside village---
---with beautiful gardens---
---quaint shops---
---and nice beaches.
Along the shore we saw some beautiful rocky shores--
---and the historic Fort Popham.
That was our final tour before the big day!
Now the day is here and Rhonda can walk down the aisle with the rest of the graduates---
---display the credentials---
---and spend the rest of the day celebrating.
Finally back at Sunshine, we were greeted by a special guest.
This Oriel was never far from our window and was not afraid to make his presence known.
Of course when Mother's Day came around we had to spruce up the place with a couple new flower pots.
Our house may be on six wheels but it still requires constant maintenance.  The vent fan in the bedroom  was one of the victims of the lightning strike a couple years ago. We didn't find it until a year later and decided to replace it rather than try to find repair parts.
At last we are on project. Billie spent most of the month cleaning and painting in the dorms and cafeteria.
She is so good at what she does!!
For some reason a crack developed in the ceiling of the new entry way to the old gym which we built last year.  Cleaning, a little mud---
---a little paint and we can move on to other jobs.
There was still one section of the outside which had did not have a brick face---
---so here we go, back down on the knees with a lot of mortar mix and bricks---
 ---and wallah,  one brick face.
Meanwhile Billie is modeling one of her latest thrift store finds---
---and showing me one of the reversible dresses she has made for the young girls in third world countries.
We had a great experience one evening after church.  The Johnson Strings gave us a wonderful concert.  The young adults were the first to learn to play instruments.  They have a great sound.  Check them out on You Tube.
Back on the campus, the Dean of Students has left on vacation giving me a chance to replace the floor in his office.
It was a pretty straight forward job and came out well.  I believe he will be pleased when he gets back.
