This is the location of the new football field. If you look carefully you can see a hump of dirt in the middle of the picture and on the left there is a patch of black dirt but on the right is a smooth pile of brown dirt. We must remove 3 feet of dirt from the left part of the field and move it to the right side.
This is how we are trying to move it. Unfortunately there are times when the pile gets unruly and this multi-ton monster gets stuck. This is one of those times. Another problem, this scraper is a finish scraper and unable to cut the hard pan. So>>>>>
Along comes the 4630 and a field chisel. We must cut the hard pan two or three times before the scraper has a chance to get a good bite. Then after the dirt is moved from one side to the other, we must use the land lever (which is currently connected to the tractor) to level it all out then take a shot with the laser to see just where we are. It will take a while longer.
Meanwhile, we just got two drums of oil for the scraper and nowhere to put them. So, who gets to build a drum storage rack, the Sower who knows how to weld. This is where the fun begins.
Meanwhile, back at the house, there is always more laundry to do with SOMEONE welding and working in the diesel fuel and grease.
Aah it's Mother's day and time for the Mother's day flower planting. This year it is easy since the ground around the house isn't ours. Hang a potted plant!
Then it is time to go fishing. It is a beautiful day and the guy who organized the fishing expedition to Lake Thompson has come up with a special contest. The one who catches the first fish gets 5 points, the one who catches the biggest fish gets 5 points and the one who catches the most fish gets 5 points. The one with the fewest points at the end of the day buys Blizzards at the DQ.
So, in order to not be behind in points what does Billie do? Now keep in mind that she is using a brand new fishing pole with 8 pound test line, a #3 hook, no leader and a teeny tinny minnow. She hooks onto a 43 inch, 22 pound Northern Pike. 15 minutes later we have it on a stringer.
Needless to say, the guy in the white T-shirt is the one who organized the fishing trip and the game but went home with ZERO POINTS. His wife caught the first fish and the welder caught the most fish.
That evening, with the crowd in awe we turned the 22 year old Pike into a bunch of fillets and this evening we had a FISH FRY. Boy was it good.
